Riding The Storm Out!


The Storm has come and gone and now we have 10 inches of powder!!! Yipee....and Happy New Year Skiers and Boarders. Sun Valley has 100% of their terrain open and all lifts are running....

Bundle up temps will drop tonight and keep the power cool and light for more fresh tracks in the morning, just in case you did not get out today.

It's time to ski Warm Springs top to bottom!

Dollar Mountain also will open tomorrow for skiing and riding through Sunday, December 5th and will reopen daily on December 10th for Sun Valley's 75th winter season.

Snow is in the forecast for the next two days. Warm Springs Lift opened this morning.......Dollar is open for the kids and beginner skiers. Take your telemark gear over to practice or skin up for a great workout. Sun Valley is celebrating 75 years of skiing...come on up.

Power for Opening Day

This is the new snow today on my drive into work. We have 10 inches on top of Baley and it continues to snow. Hope to get a good foot out of this storm.

Opening Day is Thanksgiving....we give thanks to the Power Gods and we are ready for a great ski season.

Cold temps in the forecast so bring your down coat and gloves.....

Its a Fall Wedding!!!


Getting married in Sun Valley is a once in a lifetime event.....its a special place for special events.
Mike and Mary were married at the Howard Preserve on Saturday. The preserve had been in the Howard Family for years and was a special place the Howard Family came to enjoy for several years. The preserve was given to the community as part of the Wood River Land Trust for the entire community to enjoy.
Saturday was a beautiful day for a wedding, Fall in Sun Valley, there is nothing better or more beautiful.
Congrats and Happy Fishing.....everyone else come on up and visit.
Mike looks like you need to mend...

Wonderful Weather and Art in the Park



Oh, the parade was great and the weather well 70 and a breeze....yeah......now for the Ice Show tonight then Dallas Alice at Whiskeys and the Labor Day Parade in Bellevue tomorrow. Afternoon music in the Bellevue Park and the Antique Fair at the park in Hailey.....hum lots to get in in a day.
Monday more of the same in Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue.

Fly Me Away


Labor Day Weekend in Sun Valley

Summer is coming to a close.......but here in Sun Valley we have events all through September and October and our weather is perfect for an extended summer getaway.
This weekend is The Big Hitch Parade....Wagon Days in Ketchum on Saturday. Lots of entries and food and fun for the entire family. The Duck Race will also be held at Rotary Park on Sunday...see those ducks dive and maybe even cash in on a prize. Sun Valley will also have the last ice show performance on Saturday night with Olympian Sasha Cohen performing at the Sun Valley Ice Rink.
Sunday and Monday Bellevue will be where its at with the annual Labor Day Parade on Sunday, music and vendors in the Park and music and vendors again on Monday.
Don't miss out as Dallas Alice will play in Bellevue on Sunday.....
Hailey will also have an Antique Market and shopping in downtown.

The paragliders are also in town, flying above Baldy. Its the National Championships. Check out the competitors and maybe even go for a glide.......its awesome.

Hole in One!!!!


Golfing today was great! These guys were out at the new White Clouds course. The temperature was 80 with a slight breeze...perfect for a hole in one. Not sure what the score was on this hole but it looked like fun.
Tonight is the Symphony tonight also lots of great music in Hailey at the 33rd Annual Northern Rockies Folk Festival....tonight The Badgers and Kelly Willis.
YMCA's Annual Classic Golf Tournament is also today and tonight is the silent auction and music with the VIP's......great group.
Don't forget to stop by main street all the shops have sidewalk sales.....tons of great deals.
Olin and The Moon at Whiskey Jacques' they are the best......so is the beer.....

Ketchum/Sun Valley 11th Annual Arts Festival


This weekend is the 11th annual Arts Festival. The event will be in Festival Meadows, Sun Valley from 10AM to 6PM Saturday and Sunday 10AM-5PM. Lots of beautiful art and crafts from vendors around the country and even some local presenters.

The weather forecast is sun and 80 degrees....perfect shopping weather.

4th of July....Let's Party


So much happening this weekend check the events page for more details. Farmers Markets, Antique Fairs, Parades, Music, Food Booths and so much more. Ketchum, Sun Valley, Hailey and Bellevue all have music events this weekend. The biking is awesome......Gondola is open so take your bike up and come down...that's the ticket.
The flowers are all out and its so beautiful......hiking is also very good with most trails open.
The Big Wood is still high so fishing is tough for fly fishermen...your best bet is Silver Creek where the hatches are very good.

Today is the kick off for Sun Valley Rhythm and Ride....century ride this morning, mountain biking, bike bath biking, all kinds of biking events and retailers out today between Ketchum and Sun Valley just off Sun Valley Road. Stop in for some great deals.

The hatches are coming off the Big Wood and Silver Creek. The Wood is beginning to drop and Silver Creek, well its always amazing.

June Weddings In Sun Valley



June is the perfect time for a wedding. ResortQuest Sun Valley has several venues to select from. Above is a photo of the DeLuca/Robinson Wedding Welcome BBQ. The bocce ball game here features Fr. Brno Segatta from Italy. Fr. Brno is a family friend and will officiating at the wedding ceremony. Great home for a wedding or family get together...putting green, bocce ball, large yard for lots of entertaining. Right on the river so you can fish and BBQ all at the same time.

Gone Fishing


Well the rain has stopped and everything is green, flowers are coming out and so are the bikes.
Today was the Sawtooth Relay and weather was perfect, not too hot the best for a run from Galena to Ketchum.
Tonight lots of music in the Valley at The Sun Valley Pavilion and Hailey Rodeo grounds.

Bike path is great, smooth riding......Townsend Gulch tonight for a Mtn. bike ride, Red Bull at the top and then downhill to Bellevue for pizza at South Valley Pizza.

Get out and enjoy the mountains.....

Farmers Market


The Sun Valley Farmers Market is now open. Tuesdays in Sun Valley and Thursdays in Hailey.
Stop in for fresh local produce and all kinds of goodies. Music and local artists also in attendance.

Manero Family in Sun Valley


Sun Valley is hosting the Joe Manero family from Houston, Texas. The family were winners of The ResortQuest Treasure Hunt contest this winter to Sun Valley, Idaho. This is the families first time to Sun Valley. They just arrived yesterday so they have not had much time to spend outdoors, but plan on biking and ice skating. Here is a photo from today....just after they visited the YMCA for some climbing on the kids rock wall, tomorrow swimming at the Y and tonight hot tub for mom and day.

White Water


The weather here is warming up and its time to get out on the river.....rafting is good on the Middle Fork and there are day trips and multi-day trips going out of Stanley.....Hiking and Biking was also good up to this week, but we have had some rain, closing some of the trails. There are still plenty of miles to ride so check in at The Perch or Sturdos to see what trails are open.
Wellness Festival is this weekend...lots to see and go come on up.

May is here and so is Summer

The weather has warmed up and the biking and hiking trails are opening. May is a great time to visit Sun Valley. Special rates on lodging and off season dinning make it a perfect weekend or week long getaway. The moose are out so if your hiking along the Big Wood watch out. Fishing is closed until Memorial Day and looks like opening is going to be good.

Spring is in the Air......The Swans are Out in the Sun


Well Sun Valley wrapped up the ski season on Sunday. It was great........temps in the high 50's and music at the base area...everyone had a great time.


Spring is in the air with warm temperatures and soon mountain biking trails will begin to open. Road bike riding is good, with good daytime temps. Hiking in some places also has already begun. Stay tuned we will keep you updated on what happening weekly...... Looking towards a great summer of music and fun.

Looks like a great Spring Skiing Day....sun and blue sky skiing. Dont forget to get your corned beef and cabbage fix at Mahoneys Bar and Grill. Also Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey features the Forty Fours at 8PM tonight....Today is also SNRA Winter Adventure day learn about snow science and tracking station...10-2 at the SNRA. Spring Break this week for the Wood River Valley so get out and ski its great....lots of groomed runs and plenty of sun.
